The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has informed customers that this month’s bills may be estimated and may not reflect their actual electricity usage.

In a notice to customers on Friday, the company said Hurricane Beryl had impacted several areas of operations, including its ability to conduct actual meter readings.

“As a result, your bill for the June-July period may be an estimate, so don’t be confused if it doesn’t seem to reflect your recent usage,” the company said.

“But don’t worry, your actual usage will be reflected in your next meter reading. So any over- or under-estimation will be factored into your next bill,” the email continued.

JPS explained that estimated bills are calculated based on the average of a customer’s three most recent actual readings.
