The accident on Kazbegi Boulevard resulted in the death of a 19-year-old cyclist – The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia arrested an employee of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the loss of a person’s life.
According to the agency, it was determined that at around 4:35 am on July 19, in Tbilisi, Tbilisi, he was speeding on his motorcycle, and the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Patrol Police Station asked him to stop, but he did not obey and continued to drive in the direction of Alexander Kazbegi Avenue, when he collided with him. The car driven by a staff member of the Patrol Police Station violated traffic regulations. The motorcycle driver died on the spot.
The detainees will be charged under Article 276 of Part 6 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of four to seven years’ imprisonment.
The Prosecutor’s Office filed an application with the Tbilisi City Court within the period prescribed by law, filing a motion for the defendant’s imprisonment as a preventive measure.
“The investigation of the criminal case into possible criminal facts in the prosecution of patrol police employees is continuing,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Motorcyclist Revi Demetrashvili died in a traffic accident on Kazbegi Avenue. The suspected motorcyclist was chased by patrolling police and blocked the road.
There were several witnesses to the traffic accident on Kazbegi Avenue, one of whom filmed a video and shared it on social networks, and was subsequently arrested by the police. Gika Modebadze filmed a video at the scene of the accident. In the video, the witness said that the police were trying to destroy evidence on the spot.
