MIAMI GARDENS, FL — The City of Miami Gardens will break ground on Miami Gardens City Center in the city’s Entertainment Overlay District (EOD). The ambitious project is being led by developer Imo Capitalaims to change the face of the community, bring a new round of economic growth to residents, create jobs and improve the quality of life. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10 a.m. at NW 191st and NW 27th.day Main Street.
The new city center will span more than 35 acres and will combine entertainment, retail, dining and lifestyle amenities to create a vibrant, connected community. The project plans to build two hotels, multi-family apartments, and a variety of entertainment facilities and restaurants; including a building of more than 100,000 square feet with multiple attractions.
The city centre is expected to create a significant number of new jobs during the construction phase, with additional permanent positions once the centre is operational. These opportunities include construction and project management roles as well as retail and hospitality roles.
“Our vision is to create an urban center that will serve as the heart of Miami Gardens, where people can live, work and play,” said Mayor Rodney Harris. “We believe this development will become a cornerstone of our community, enhancing a sense of belonging and pride for our residents.”
Following the groundbreaking, Mayor Rodney Harris will host a construction expo to connect local residents with job opportunities on the project. The Building Expo will be held at 10 a.m. on July 30, 2024, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreation Center.
