“This is the largest single investment and EU project ever undertaken in Sisak-Moslavina County and Novska,” said the mayor of Novska, Marija Kušmiš. She added that the project “will change the image of the city and give Novska a strong boost”. Novska and the county. “Our biggest challenge begins!”
The gaming industry center will be built in the business district of Novska city, covering an area of 8 hectares.
The campus is a complex consisting of several buildings: faculty and staff housing with a gymnasium and swimming pool, student housing for 250 users, an accelerator with a VR studio, an incubator with a video game testing room, and other supporting facilities.
The space will primarily be an esports arena that resembles a ground-level UFO and will feature 2,500 spectator seats and space for gaming competitions. The center will set a new standard for student campuses.
The construction of the center is a continuation of the Pismo business incubator that opened in Novska in 2018 and is dedicated to the development of companies in the field of video games.
Minister of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Marin Piletić, who has been involved in the project from the beginning, as he was then the mayor of Novska, expressed his satisfaction with the dynamism the project has brought to Novska and the fact that young people from all over Croatia have come to Novska.
Novska’s future gaming campus will host a five-year higher education program for 50 students per year and a high school program for 24 students.
The first phase of the project will build roads, sports fields, staff buildings and student dormitories, power plants, etc. The construction and gaming center in Novska is expected to be completed and open in 2027.
The games centre in Novska is the first project in Croatia to be funded by the EU Just Transition Fund.
The organizer of the project is the Regional Coordinator of Public Institutions of Sisak-Moslavina County, and the partners are Sisak-Moslavina County, SIMORA Development Agency and the Municipality of Novska.
