The National Weather Service issued a yellow warning for temporarily increased atmospheric instability in effect in 10 counties Friday.

In a short period of time or through accumulation, the water volume can reach 20 – 25 l/m2, and in individual cases it can reach more than 40 l/m2.
The rest of the region will see atmospheric instability, but only in limited areas, ANM noted.

Meteorologists issued a new heatwave alert in several regions of Moldova, Dobrudja, Krisana, Transylvania, Oltenia and Muntenia, which will be in effect on Friday and Saturday.

According to the National Meteorological Service (ANM), on Friday, July 19, a yellow code for hot weather will be issued in Banat, Dobrudja, southern Krisana, southwestern Transylvania, southern Moldova, and parts of Oltenia and Muntenia. Heat discomfort will be high, the maximum temperature will be between 34 and 36 degrees, while the temperature and humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The minimum temperature will not fall below 20 degrees.

The counties under the yellow code alert include: Arad, Timiş, Caraş-Severin, Alba, Hunedoara, Gorgi, Vâlcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzău, Vrancea, Galati, Braila, Jalomișa, Tulcea and Constanta.

In addition, the orange heat code will come into force on Friday in Mehedinţi, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Călăraşi, Ilfov counties and the city of Bucharest. In these areas, the heat wave will persist. The maximum temperature will generally be 37-38 degrees. At night, the temperature will reach 22 degrees.

Expert forecasts show that on Saturday, July 20, against the background of the yellow heat alert, the heat wave will persist in most of the Banat, Muntenia and Oltenia regions, as well as in mainland Dobrudja, and the heat discomfort will be high, the ITU will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum temperature will fluctuate between 34 and 37 degrees, the minimum temperature will be 20 degrees.

The yellow code will appear in the following counties: Timiș, Karaș-Severin, Mehdinți Gorgi, Valcea, Argeș, Dambovita, Ilfov, Bucharest, Giurgiu, Clarași, Prahova, Buzău, Braila, Jalomișa, Tulcea (western half) and Constanta (western half).

Also on Saturday, the orange code for continued high temperatures, heat waves and severe heat discomfort will come into force in the counties of Dolj, Ort and Teleman. The maximum will reach 38 degrees, and the minimum will exceed 20 degrees, so they will characterize tropical nights.
