The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) has announced the Tonga roster of athletes for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Tonga team consists of four athletes, three of whom are first-time Olympic athletes, who will compete in track and field, boxingand swim.
“We are delighted to announce that these athletes have been awarded universal qualification to the Olympic Games, providing them with the opportunity to compete on the world’s biggest stage,” the Tassanook Athletic Association said.
First-time competitors include Maleselo Fukofuka (100m dash), Fe’ofa’aki ‘Epenisa (women’s boxing 60kg), Alan Uhi (men’s 100m backstroke) and second-time Olympian Noelani Day (women’s 50m freestyle).
The Tongan team will be led by Chef de Mission Viola Ulakai, with Paris-based Virginie Dourlet as team attaché, team physiotherapist Tim Allardyce from the United Kingdom, and Tonga Olympic Committee president Michael Bloomfield and secretary general Netina Vea as support staff.
this 2024 Paris Olympics Opening It will take place at the Seine River on Friday evening, July 26 (Saturday morning local time in Tonga). Fe’ofa’aki ‘Epenisa and Alan Uhi will carry the Tongan flag at the opening ceremony.
