Kavango West and Kavango East regions are currently holding a three-day cross-border meeting with Angolan health officials in Rundu.
Franciska Hamutenya, Kavango West Health Director, said cross-border collaboration plays a vital role in developing strategies to mitigate challenges faced by health care providers, delivering care during cross-border treatment, and sharing best practices.
“So it is very important to have a platform to discuss matters related to healthcare, prevention and control of cross-border infections,” she said.
Hamutnia added that the objectives of the meeting include identifying public health challenges and the cross-border collaboration needed to improve health services for epidemic diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
“The meeting also aims to explore maternal health and child health issues, especially immunization in communities near the border,” she said.
