Itaiopolis is a city of 22,000 inhabitants in the north of Santa Catarina state. The Federal Police and the Brazilian Army have been contacted and are assisting in the investigation. The robbery took place on Wednesday morning (17th) at a shooting club in Itaiopolis. The military police were called to the police at around 11:30 am. What happened? The shop is owned by the wife of the owner of the shooting club.She told her husband that three armed masked men announced the robbery. They tied up his wife and the bricklayer who was working at the construction site there. What happened to the hostages? The shooting club owner’s wife and the bricklayer were trapped in a safe at the location. How many hostages were there? The Prime Minister and the Civil Police have not yet confirmed the number of hostages. What did the criminals steal? According to Deputy Nelson Vidal, who is in charge of the case, 88 short weapons and about 10 long weapons, as well as ammunition were stolen. Images captured by the safe’s security camera showed one of the robbers with his face covered collecting the weapons (see above).
