Madison Bergman’s ex-fiancee is still dating Fifth grade teacher in Wisconsin — even after she was arrested for allegedly “making out” with an 11-year-old in her class, according to her friends.
“From what I understand, they’re still communicating,” said a friend who was invited to the couple’s originally scheduled July 27 wedding (now canceled).
“But obviously, everything has changed. He’s suffered a huge betrayal, but he’s madly in love with her and you can’t just put that out of your mind.”
Now, Bergman is holed up on her grandparents’ farm, avoiding most of her former friends — including the bridal party from her canceled wedding.
“She seemed too embarrassed to face us,” the friend told The Washington Post. “She ignored everyone, which was to be expected.”
Bergman, 24, is charged with first-degree child sexual assault of a child under 13 years old.
Bergman was a teacher at River Crest Elementary School when she allegedly engaged in an affair with an 11-year-old student, according to charging documents obtained by The Washington Post.
She allegedly kissed him several times in the classroom, either after school or while other students were eating lunch. Police also said she moved his desk closer to her so she could Leg massage during class.
Her alleged molestation was only uncovered when the boy’s parents found obscene text messages on his phone. Angry Father Printing out the information and rushing to the front desk sparked the investigation, according to court records.
“He really caused a commotion,” said a school employee who witnessed the angry father’s arrival.
Police searched Bergman’s backpack and allegedly found a manila folder with the victim’s name on it and several handwritten letters inside.
“In her note, she told him that she loved him, that she wanted to kiss him, that he turned her on, that she was obsessed with him,” the lawsuit states.
In another letter, Bergman wrote: “I have a cousin who is in fifth grade and I cannot imagine a man talking to her the way we do. I know our relationship is special and I love you more than anyone in the world, but I have to act like an adult and stop this behavior.”
When confronted with the letters, Bergman exercised his right to an attorney, authorities said.
Bergman was released on $25,000 bail. Her attorney did not respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post. She is due to appear in court next month.
As the case progresses, those who knew Bergman are still grappling with the consequences of her alleged actions.
A friend who was invited to the wedding, which has now been cancelled, said: “Everyone was shocked at first.
“But right now, she’s hurt. The betrayal. The sympathy for this child and his family. She’s already got a lot of devastation in her path.”
