SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Malaysia from Friday (July 19) to Monday to attend the inauguration ceremony of Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Lee Hsien Loong was among a “group” of foreign leaders invited by Sultan Ibrahim to attend the inauguration ceremony.
Local Malaysian media reported that Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Bahrain’s King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa are among those expected to attend the ceremony.

Sultan Ibrahim and Lee Hsien Loong previously met during the King’s official visit to Singapore on May 6, when Lee attended a state dinner and was briefed on the connection of the Thomson-East Coast Line with the MRT system.
Sultan Ibrahim also attended Singapore’s Parliament session, where Singapore’s Speaker Seah Kian Peng welcomed Sultan Ibrahim and praised him as an ardent supporter of unity between the people of Malaysia and Singapore.
In Kuala Lumpur, Mr Lee will attend a royal banquet and meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He will also interact with Malaysian rulers, ministers and leaders, and deliver a speech at a Kuala Lumpur Business Club dinner.
In addition, Mr Lee will attend a reception for overseas Singaporeans hosted by the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr Lee was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Mrs Lee, Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad and Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling.
