Estonian border guards do not allow cars with Belarusian registration numbers to enter the country. This was reported by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“EU sanctions against Belarus include a ban on the import of motor vehicles with Belarusian license plates, which means such vehicles are prohibited from passing through Estonian border checkpoints,” the message said.
In this case, the reasons why the owner or user stays in Estonia or the EU are not important and are not taken into account.
Vehicles with Belarusian license plates must be re-registered within five days to 12 months, depending on the circumstances. They must also be declared to customs within six months.
If these conditions are not met, the vehicle will be banned from the road and the owner will be fined.
Lithuania has also taken similar measures. The ban on cars entering Belarus will take effect on July 18.
