The DK chairman divides everyone: “Orban is a dictatorial political villain. (…) Most of the Hungarian independent media are currently in a worse situation than the DK. (…) If someone with the habits of Petr Magyar could get close to governing, it would mean something dramatic. (…) One of the many lies is that two-thirds of it is because of me.”

Ferenc Gyurcsány says in “Opposition Political Groups or Their Leaders” that if one thinks that he can eliminate this political trend that we represent and defeat Orbán at the same time, then he will fail. telex In his interview about Tisza. The DK chairman said of his party, which in alliance with the MSZP and Párbeszéd won just over 8% of the vote in the European Parliament elections on June 9: “Without them and the habits that their voters represent, it would have been impossible to get a majority.” – Taking responsibility is not the same as resigning. Taking responsibility is about facing whether you made a mistake, whether you made a mistake that now has to be spit in the face. This needs to be discussed – he said, when asked why he did not consider leaving or retreating into the background after the results.

On the one hand, the party leader tried to reassure everyone, saying that “I have no ambitions to be prime minister now”, but he also told everyone that after his wife Clara Dubov’s “role is over, she has no candidacy”. She will once again become the “face” of the DK. – The normal basic situation appears: the party chairman leads the party – he added and promised that in the current “phase of struggle” he will participate more effectively in the life of the DK. He also eliminated his political opponents and allies. Speaking about his old rivals, the prime minister and the ruling party, he said that the DK cannot be put on the same page with Fidesz, Gyurcsany and Orbán. “I am a decent but far from perfect constitutional democrat, and Orbán is an authoritarian political villain,” he said to the prime minister. And self-praise: “I think that I have served my country well together with this community, we are very good patriots.” According to him, they are the real hope of those who want a strong federal Europe.

In Gyurcsany’s interview, the names of the past and future figures who are responsible for the fate of the country were not omitted: “One of the many lies is that two-thirds are because of me”, and he then singled out 2018 from among them. He said, for example, that he considered the then LMP co-chairs Bernadette Szél and Ákos Hadházy responsible, but also Krisztina Baranyi and Jobbik, because they believed “they could do anything”. He believes that Hungary does not have a Gyurcsany problem, but a problem of Orbán and those who support Gyurcsany.

Péter Magyar and his party, which won about 30% in the European Parliament elections, cannot be excluded. – The leaders of the Tisza party share Orbán’s views on European issues and the rule of law, but are unable to unite the opposition against him. According to the party’s chairman, they are facing a drama: there are as many voters against Orbán as for him, and if the opposition does not understand that there is no alternative to full, sincere, trusting cooperation, then we are in trouble.

– If someone with Hungarian habitus manages to come close to governing, it means drama. If a situation arises where someone wants to decide who the 106 deputies will be in 2026, there will be big problems. Don’t let such a formation win, because then there will be a lot of disappointment, he predicts, but he still says that to what extent voters want Péter Magyar to be a candidate for prime minister in 2026, then the DK will sit down and think long before deciding. There is no reason to rule out the candidacy of Vice President Tisza now. He has not yet proved his suitability, which still awaits him – and this, he says, is partly self-contradictory.

In his assessment of Ferenc Gyurcsany, he did not ignore the media, and it turned out that he had “the biggest disputes with self-proclaimed independent media”, which, according to him, assume a political role. Speaking about his separate struggle with 444, he noted that “there is also some excellent writing there,” but I feel that “these guys are trying to kill me politically.” – he said, adding that the situation of most Hungarian independent media is even worse than that of DK.

Finally, the former prime minister gave some praise to the mayor Gergely Karajoni, because according to him, they all believed that the government was harming the country. However, he also gave him tasks like a boss. – Now his task is to organize a majority, so that the majority of the deputies in the assembly do not agree with his political tendencies. Ferenc Gyurcsány stressed that this mandate is more important than any party agreement.
