The Independent Electoral Management Body (Aige) now has a stronger legal and institutional framework for electoral logistics and security. The updating of electoral documents is about to be completed, followed by the configuration of polling stations
This information was provided by the President of the Independent Electoral Management Body, Me Moustapha Ciss, during a discussion session at the Bamako International Conference Centre (CICB) on the framework of consultations between the independent body and political parties. The meeting was convened after the Government lifted the suspension of the activities of political parties and associations of a political nature last week.
Moustapha Ciss, who expressed appreciation for the decision that allowed us to reconnect with the Ege-Party Consultative Framework, recalled that the goal of the regular meetings is to work together to hold transparent, peaceful and credible elections. This involves establishing a dialogue framework between the Authority and the political parties to consult and agree on institutional solutions. The room at Bala Moussa Cissokho was full, proving that political parties can exist for a good cause.
In his welcome speech, the President of the independent body highlighted the preparedness of his institution in organizing and managing all future referendums and electoral events. Among these notable developments, we have already noted the full operationalization of the units responsible for elections and electoral archives at the level of the Ege. The supply of new systems or new generation equipment has been increased to professionals at the local coordination level to further ensure the good functioning of future electoral opportunities. “We will behave like a real election manager,” assured Me Moustapha Ciss.
In addition, it is believed that the members of the Authority will receive the necessary training in electoral matters. Even better, he believes, the legal and institutional framework of AJ has been strengthened, especially through cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Me Moustapha Ciss will also mention the achievements that AJ has already made in terms of logistical management and electoral security.
And ensure that the updating of electoral documents is finalized, after which the configuration of polling stations will also begin. Every effort is being made to obtain a comprehensive electoral file for all citizens to participate.
