Firefighting efforts continue in Bulgaria. The military continues to assist firefighters and volunteers in extinguishing fires. Air Force helicopters are extinguishing outbreaks in some locations.

Tens of thousands of acres of land and forests have been reduced to ashes. Houses have also been affected. Fires near Svilengrad and Haskovo have destroyed an area of ​​more than 100,000 dekales. The situation in Lisovo was critical the night before Monday.

“We managed to bring the fire under control this morning. There is no longer any danger to the densely populated area,” Mitko Chakalov, head of the Haskovo fire department, told Hello Bulgaria.

The road between Topolovograd and Svilengrad was closed due to smog. The declared state of emergency has been extended.

“We still can’t rest. Fires are still going on in Plovdiv, Varna, Kyustendil,” explained Lyubomir Barov, deputy director of the Main Directorate of Fire Safety.

On its way, the element captures everything it passes through, and the wind further expands the area.

So far, 24,000 acres of forest have been destroyed. A large portion of that is conifer. It would take a long time to describe the damage.

The fire was caused by a farmer who was mowing his lawn. The case has been turned over to the prosecutor’s office, NOVA reported.

Meanwhile, the fire on both sides of the “Hemus” highway was under control and traffic was restored on Monday afternoon, and part of the highway in the “7 km” area was closed again. The fire department confirmed that due to the influence of the wind, the fire also spread to the pine forest.

Among them, two men aged 41 and 46 were detained for starting a fire in the Vladislavovo area.

The fires near the villages of Ivanvazovo in the municipalities of Hisarya and Kaloyanovo have been brought under control. A partial state of emergency has been declared in the region. The fires have burned nearly 20,000 acres of mostly coniferous forest. Firefighting efforts have been made difficult by the difficulty of reaching the Sredna Gora region.
