Donald Trump became the first former president to be convicted when a New York jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to influence the 2016 election by hiding payments to a pornographic film actress whose close relationship with the former president bought her silence.

Former President Trump was found guilty of 34 counts.
The decision leaves the United States in uncharted territory ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election, when Republican candidate Trump aims to defeat Democrat Joe Biden in the race for the White House.
Meanwhile, Trump, 77, has denied the allegations and is expected to appeal the decision.
The former US president has pleaded not guilty to all charges but said “the decision was shameful and the trial was rigged”.
“This is a trial arranged by a corrupt judge… This is not over yet, I will continue to fight until the end… The real verdict will be on November 5,” he added.
