In the first stage of the fight against Sosnovsky hogweed in the Moscow region, more than 21,000 hectares of cultivated land were treated. In the second stage, more than 5,500 hectares of land have now been treated, the press service of the region’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food reported.

“The second stage is in full swing, 32% of the program is complete, more than 5,500 hectares are being treated using mechanical and chemical methods, and areas are also being treated from the air using special equipment,” noted Sergei Dvoinykh, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.

At the same time, in the second stage of combating giant hogweed, work was carried out on more than 1,100 hectares of land in the urban area of ​​Mozhaysk and more than 630 hectares of land in Yegoryevsk. In Kolomna, work on nearly 600 hectares of land has been completed.

Let’s recall that at the end of last month, the Moscow Region proposed amendments to the law, according to which failure to remove Sosnovsky giant hogweed from private areas requires the issuance of an order. Failure to comply could result in administrative penalties.
