The fifth meeting of the Namibia-Ghana Joint Permanent Cooperation Committee opened in Swakopmund on July 2, focusing on political and diplomatic relations, trade and investment, small and medium enterprise development, migration, transport and mining.
Executive Director of the Department of International Relations, Penda Nanda, stressed the need for tangible progress in bilateral cooperation, trade and investment to complement the strong political relations between the two countries. “As technocrats, we must engage in meaningful deliberations on issues of mutual concern and achieve tangible results that improve the lives of our people,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of taking innovative measures to connect the private sectors of both countries to fully leverage the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He pointed out that Namibian beef has been successfully exported to Ghana, and Ghanaian shea butter, cosmetics and fabrics have also successfully entered the Namibian market. The meeting will close today.
