A heavy rainstorm hit Klaipeda: the city suddenly died

Within minutes, the rain was so heavy that the sidewalks on the streets and courtyards were invisible – the water was flooding in. Drivers were even afraid to drive on some streets – they waited for the water to flow into the rainwater collection wells.

The old town of Klaipeda was particularly badly affected and was completely flooded by the rain, with water levels reaching half a leg in some places.

In the “Weather Lovers” Facebook group, people once again shared photos of the areas affected by hail in Lithuania. On Thursday evening, icicles appeared in the Pasvalice region, and hail also fell in Kupiško, Kaunas, Aliogala, Sakiai regions.

“Beautiful hyacinths, witch hazel, azaleas, daisies and other plants, only ‘stems’ or piles of garbage are left, there is a hole in the roof of the terrace… Angry, sad, stung… very…”, he expressed his feelings online, a resident from the Telsiai district was hit by hail.

It was announced that many regions of Lithuania may also see rain on Friday. Tomorrow, the weather in Lithuania will be determined by a low-gradient low-pressure field. Forecasters also warned of the possibility of storms on Friday.

The weather will be the same as in the previous days: the morning will be dry and more or less sunny, in the afternoon spherical cloud towers will begin to appear in the sky, in the afternoon and evening it will rain heavily, sometimes very heavily in many places, with thundershowers. Hail and storms are possible again in some areas. The wind will be moderate from the east, but during thundershowers, gusts will reach 15-18 m/s in some areas. The maximum temperature during the day will reach 23-28 degrees Celsius.

Short periods of rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Vilnius on Friday afternoon. There is a high chance of a storm. The temperature will rise to 24-26 degrees.

Weather conditions will remain similar on Saturday, the first day of summer. There will be less chances of rain at night, and the wind will be weaker. In the morning the temperature will drop to 11-16 degrees Celsius. During the day, the sky will gather spherical clouds again, but they should not be very high and strong. Although short-term rains are expected in many areas, it will be light rain in most areas. Only in the northern parts of the country will the rainfall be more intense, accompanied by thundershowers. The wind will be from the east and mild during the day. The weather will warm up to 22-27 degrees Celsius, with the hottest areas being Dzūkija and Užnemunė.

On Sunday, a small cyclone will arrive in Lithuania from the southwest. The cloud cover will increase. Heavy rain will fall in some areas at night and in some areas during the day, with occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms. The wind will be weak at night and change direction during the day, with moderate winds and occasional gusts during thunderstorms. It will be warm at night on cloudy days, 12-17 degrees, and a little cool during the day, 21-26 degrees.
