According to the Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran, citing Tabnak, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement to reporters: Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans to contact former US President Donald Trump, who survived an assassination attempt.
Asked at a news conference whether Putin planned to engage with Trump, Peskov said: “As far as I know, there are no such plans.”
The Kremlin spokesman also stressed that whether the assassination attempt against the former US president and the country’s 2024 presidential election candidate will affect the legitimacy of the results of this election and the legitimacy of the results of the upcoming presidential election. The US election is an internal affair and we should not judge it.
Earlier, Peskov issued a statement on the assassination of Trump, saying: “We do not think or believe at all that the attempt to assassinate the US presidential candidate was organized by the current government, but the atmosphere created by the Biden administration” during the political campaign was an inciting factor for Trump’s assassination.
He continued: After numerous attempts to remove Trump from the political arena using legal means, the courts, prosecutors, and efforts to discredit him politically, it became clear to all outside observers that his life was in danger.
The Kremlin spokesman also said: The US government voluntarily or unwillingly transferred its way of working (on the international stage) to domestic politics, and the style of coercive decision-making also appeared on the domestic stage.
Trump was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Butler, Pennsylvania, while giving a speech on immigration.
Trump was injured in the incident, and the attacker and a rally participant were killed. In addition, two other people present were also injured.
“I was hit by a bullet that went through the top of my ear,” Trump said in a statement after being treated at a hospital.
US President Joe Biden also declared in a statement: There is no place for such violence in the United States. We must unite as a country and condemn it.
