Koror, Palau – The Palau Youth Games and Festival concluded on Friday, July 12, with a Closing Ceremony on Saturday, July 13 at 1:30 pm at the Palau National Stadium.

The week-long event took place at venues in Koror and Airai, with more than 400 student athletes participating in 11 sports. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn and compete in a variety of Olympic and other sports, including track and field, archery, baseball, basketball, canoeing, tennis, sailing, swimming, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling.

This year’s program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Palau’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) and various sports federations.

The athletes will be provided with transportation and lunch every day. Buses will ferry students from Babeltuab to the competition venue and back every day by 3pm.

Organizers said students and parents have shown great interest in continuing the program each year in the hope of discovering talent and developing young athletes. The goal of the program is to allow all Palau students and youth to fully participate in sports.

The public is encouraged to attend the closing ceremony on the final day of competition (Friday 12 July) and tour the sports facilities.
