Albanian drug trafficker Fasli Qibini was on the run for more than 13 years before being arrested in January last year and sentenced to 10 years in prison in Italy.
Italian media reported that his sentence was much lighter than the charges and demands of the prosecutor, who had asked for a 20-year prison sentence.
Albanians benefited from a shortened trial.
Italian media write that the judge followed the lawyers’ defense and excluded the charges of organizer and leader of a criminal association, thereby reducing the sentence.
He is considered an international drug middleman. According to investigators, Zibini managed and coordinated heroin trafficking between his country of origin, Greece, Turkey and southern Italy, where he did business with the Di Lauro family and then with the “Nadieli”.
