St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The twin-island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is currently hosting a historic Investment Gateway Summit, attracting economic citizens, investors and industry leaders. The summit, which will be held from July 10 to 14, aims to promote exchanges and build meaningful connections to shape the future of investment and development in the country.
The five-day summit, themed “Connect, Collaborate, Celebrate,” included high-level panel discussions on topics including investing in technology to enhance food production and security, energy and resource management, and strategies for adequate due diligence and risk management. The summit also included networking sessions to promote knowledge sharing and lasting partnerships.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrence Drew delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony on July 11, 2024. He highlighted the role of the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program in national development and emphasized that his government has restructured the program to improve its integrity and effectiveness.
“These reforms demonstrate our commitment to good governance and the sustainable transformation of our Citizenship by Investment Program. Our goal is to preserve the integrity of the program and maintain our reputation in the international community. Our focus remains on sustainability, good governance and economic growth, ensuring St. Kitts and Nevis remains an investment destination,” said Prime Minister Drew.
The restructuring process included the enactment of new regulations, such as the introduction of a council to oversee the operations of the CBI department and the formation of a technical committee to review documents and provide advice to the relevant ministers. In addition, the government also criminalized underpricing in CBI schemes.
In addition to the importance of the CBI, the government led by Dr. Drew is working to diversify the Commonwealth’s economy, aiming to transform St. Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island nation. Prime Minister Drew said the Investment Gateway Summit will play a role in this transformation.
“Over the next five days, you will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded people, collaborate on innovative projects, and celebrate our nation’s achievements,” said Prime Minister Dr. Drew. “This summit is about building lasting relationships and creating a shared legacy of prosperity. As we move forward, I invite you, our investors, to join us on this journey.”
Summit attendees will also experience the natural beauty and rich culture of St. Kitts and Nevis, including a scenic railway tour of the island, a visit to the historic Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, and a day of celebration and excursions on the sister island of Nevis.
Prime Minister Drew expressed pride in the country’s traditions and culture and stressed that St. Kitts and Nevis is committed to being a beacon of sustainable development, good governance and economic resilience.
“St. Kitts and Nevis is more than a place to invest; it is a place to belong, a place to prosper, and a place to create lasting memories. Welcome to St. Kitts and Nevis. Welcome to a world of possibilities,” concluded Prime Minister Drew.
The 2024 Investment Gateway Summit will foster new partnerships and lay the foundation for future growth and development in St. Kitts and Nevis.
