Adaptive wind speed president Joe Biden Trump continued to insist on Thursday that he would run for re-election, however, new comments he made while hosting a NATO summit raised doubts about his suitability.
The 81-year-old president sought to show off by hosting a NATO summit in Washington two weeks after he performed poorly in a debate with Republican nominee former President Donald Trump, sparking concerns among Democrats that he could lose to Trump.
During the summit, Biden mistakenly introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian dictator Vladimir Putin but quickly corrected himself.
At a news conference following the summit, Biden mistakenly referred to Vice President Kamal Harris as “Vice President Trump” but vowed not to drop out of the presidential race.
“I think I’m the most qualified person to run for president. I beat him once, and I’m going to beat him again,” Biden said of Trump.
Biden, already the oldest person elected to five terms as U.S. president, said he was running for re-election “not because of my legacy” but “to finish the work I started.”
“Now I want to turn (leadership of the NATO-Ukraine Council) over to a president of Ukraine who has both courage and resolve — ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” Biden said.
Biden quickly recovered and declared: “President Putin! He’s going to beat President Putin. President Zelensky – I’m so focused on beating Putin, we should be worried about that.”
Zelensky, a former actor, took Biden’s jibe and humorously called out Ukrainian President Vladimir Putin, adding that he was “better” than Putin.
Later, when asked whether Harris could defeat Trump if she withdrew her nomination, Biden said, “I would not have chosen Vice President Trump as vice president if I believed she was unqualified to be president.”
Other NATO summit participants were mostly tolerant of Biden’s nonsense and expressed support for him.
“Exaggerations happen all the time, and if you watch someone carefully enough, you quickly notice a lot of them,” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said after Biden’s latest mass.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Biden had shown he was “the key”. Britain’s new Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Biden was in “good shape”.
