Gerard Taylor was named as the new Heart of Scotland player on Wednesday and will share the dressing room with Kenneth Vargas. However, defender Kendall Waston played a major role in making the move happen.
As revealed by Hearts coach Gordon Forrest, who overlapped with Waston at the Vancouver Whitecaps, the defender gave him a good reference on Taylor.
“He gives us a good character reference and also gives us the opportunity to talk to him and the players as we try to attract other players to come here as well.“Forrest talked about the conversation he had in Kendall.
“There was a chance to talk to these people and find out every last detail. We don’t want to take someone out of Costa Rica, bring them here and have them not be willing to work hard or not be willing to settle down. “That’s only a small part of the story,” he added.
Gerard Taylor will join Hearts on a one-year loan with the club retaining an option to buy.
