P-au-P, July 11, 2024 (AlterPresse) — The Conference of Rectors of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Haiti (Corpuha) urges public authorities and the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (Menfp), an online agency AlterPresse, to take seriously the increasing number of attacks against public and private universities in Haiti.

These “deadly” attacks on Goc and Inuka universities, carefully planned by armed bandits since March 2024 against the State University of Haiti (Ueh), have devastated École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and National School of Art (ENARTS)Departments Agronomy and veterinary science (Famv) wait science and the National Library of Haiti (BNH) in the metropolitan area of the capital, Port-au-Prince.

Attacking the centers of higher education in the metropolitan area of the capital, Port-au-Prince (which accounts for 80% of the student population and more than 60% of university centers), is, in its simplest form, an attempt to weaken Haitian society by eliminating all the means, Corpuha believes, to develop capable human resources for social, economic and political development.
She held the highest level of state officials responsible for restoring order and security in the country and thus ensuring respect for private property.
She called on public authorities to take urgent action to curb this deadly trend and on the State to provide sovereign aid to save the higher education sector from exodus of professors and students to crime.
