Tonight, the England national team defeated the Netherlands 2-1, thus earning the opportunity to participate in the European Cup final for the second time in a row.

The selections made by Southgate show that the team’s true potential is far from what it should be.
Despite this, Southgate recorded his ninth knockout-stage win in a major tournament tonight, equalling the total tally of all other managers.
Southgate eliminated Colombia and Sweden at the World Cup in Russia, Germany, Ukraine and Denmark at the last European Championship, Senegal at the Qatar World Cup, and now Slovakia, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
There are nine in total, a number equal to all other inductees in the national team’s history combined. England eliminated Spain at Euro 1996, their only knockout stage win in a European Championship tournament before Southgate’s arrival.
They eliminated Ecuador in 2006, Denmark in 2002, Belgium and Cameroon in 1990. They eliminated Paraguay in 1986, while their only world title came in 1966, when England eliminated Argentina, Portugal and Germany.
