Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman was naturally disappointed after losing 1-2 to England. So far, the “Tulip” is only one step away from the 2024 European Cup final.
“In the first half England gave us problems in midfield. We couldn’t control how they moved through Bellingham and Foden. At half-time I put more players into midfield and we managed to equalise. I felt in the final we were fresher after 20-25 minutes but they scored a great goal at the end and maybe we should have gone to extra time but we can be proud of our players because we had a great game,” said.
“I’m disappointed with the result. We started well and scored at the beginning, but then we had problems in the midfield, which allowed dangerous players like Foden and Bellingham to take control. After half-time, we managed to regain some control and in the last 20 minutes we believed we could even win, but their goal fell through in the last minute – a very good goal,” the coach added.
“I believe in the future of this team. He can do more and we have other players to bring in. We worked hard and built a strong bond between us. We are close to the final and I am proud of the team. Xavi also played a great game and I am happy for him and I believe he has a good future,” said the Dutchman.
