John Hunter family update: Police find Kyle Clifford in manhunt after BBC presenter’s wife and daughter killed

Police say they have located the suspect wanted in the killings of Carol Hunter and her daughter.

Police said: “A suspect in connection with the triple murder of Mr Bush has been traced to an address in north London.”

“Following an extensive search, police located 26-year-old Kyle Clifford in the Enfield area this afternoon.

“He is being treated for injuries. No shots were fired.”

John Hunter, who lost his wife and two daughters in that horrific crossbow attack, has been showered with love and support from the sports media and racing community.

BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Mark Chapman paid tearful tribute to his colleague and friend after a “heartbreaking day”.

Kicking off 5 Live’s pre-European Championship show on Wednesday evening, Mr Chapman said: “John Hunter was a friend and colleague, not only to the current sports team at 5 Live but to all of us who worked here with him over the last 20 years and to all of you who enjoyed his brilliant commentary.

“On behalf of everyone associated with 5 Live sport, I would like to send our love, thoughts and support to John and his family.”

ITV and Sky Sports racing commentator Matt Chapman said: “I have no words to say. I just want John to know that we love him and racing loves him.”

“We have a lot of people he can talk to if he needs or wants to talk.

“John was a brilliant commentator and broadcaster – but he was also a lovely guy.”

On Wednesday, supporters laid flowers at a police cordon on Ashlyn Close, a quiet suburban lane, for the Hunt family, describing them as a “very close-knit family”.

Glyn Nicholas, 77, who has lived on the same road as the victims for 50 years and was a customer of Louise Hunt’s pet grooming shop, said: “I knew them, I said hello to them and everything.”

He added: “They are a private family, they are all very nice and private. They all do their own thing.”

“Louise opened a shop a few years ago and business is booming – we all take our dogs there for grooming.”

Mr Nicholas added that the Hunts were a “very close-knit family” who “loved” the street.

Neighbors and friends of the mother and two daughters killed in the crossbow attack described them as “beautiful souls.”

Neighbor Su Kehinde (60), who laid flowers at a makeshift memorial service in the area on Wednesday, said: “They were the loveliest, gentlest family. They were the gentlest people. They didn’t deserve this. They had beautiful souls.”

Her daughter April (32) said Hannah Hunt, who was murdered along with her sister Louise and mother Carol, “always had a smile on her face” and was “hard-working, diligent and very gentle”.

Tributes have poured in for the “gentle, beautiful, kind” Hunt family after mother Carol, 61, and daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were killed in a “targeted” attack on their usually peaceful Ashlyn Close in Bushey on Tuesday night.

Uniformed police officers were seen outside Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield on Wednesday evening.

Two police officers stood at the entrance and no one entered the cemetery.

Other uniformed officers could also be seen patrolling the residential areas surrounding the cemetery.

Earlier, Hertfordshire Police said triple murder suspect Kyle Clifford had been found after the BBC horse racing commentator’s wife and two daughters were shot to death with a crossbow.

A friend of Louise Hunter said she had always been a positive person and he could not think of anything bad to say about her.

He told BBC News: “I have known Louise since school days and she was absolutely lovely, kind and always full of positive character.

“I can’t think of anything bad about her – she’s a genuinely lovely person in every way, a super hard worker.

“It was a huge shock to me.”

He said: “At first I couldn’t believe what was happening.

“I heard the news from my sister early in the morning, and then I found out who the victim was. I was shocked to learn the news and I have been unwilling to accept this fact.

“I haven’t come to terms with it yet, I’m furious about this murder, I can’t even imagine what my father is going through – so, I have mixed feelings – anger, sadness and shock.”
