WEPER party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a warning to other political leaders, saying the emerging Generation Z movement will have a lasting impact on national affairs.
Speaking at the signing of the IEBC Bill by President William Ruto at the Kenya International Conference Centre on Tuesday, Kalonzo urged Ruto to take seriously the concerns of Kenyan youths. He warned that if the older political class did not act with caution, Kenyan youths, especially Generation Z, would replace them.
“If we’re not careful, we’re all going to be left behind by Generation Z because they say they’ve grown up… You say we’re the leaders of tomorrow, but we’re the leaders of today. We can’t wish them away,” Kalonzo warned.
Furthermore, Kalonzo called on President Ruto to implement the recommendations of the NADCO report which he co-chaired. He stressed that enacting the IEBC Bill into law was one of those recommendations.
In addition, Kalonzo asked President Ruto to sack the Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome, over the deaths of 42 people during the peaceful protests.
“Order Governor Japeth Koome to resign and be held accountable for the deaths of 42 young Kenyans who lost their lives exercising their constitutional rights to peacefully assemble, demonstrate and protest. Mr President, order the military off our streets and return them to their barracks,” Kalonzo insisted.
