World champion Jackson cancels competition
Olympic favorite Sherika Jackson had to abandon her race in an event in Hungary on Tuesday night. It is not clear whether Mujinga Kambongi’s opponent will be injured for the Olympics. The Jamaican was leading with more than 200m to go and suddenly gave up as she approached the finish line. Video footage showed Jackson grimacing and burying her face in her hands. The 29-year-old had bandaged her left knee before the start of the race. It is not clear whether she just had cramp or an injury. This was her first race since winning the 100m and 200m double at the Jamaican Championships in late June.
