President Ferdinand Marcos, in his speech at the opening of the Palarong Pambansa, ordered local government units to assist families hit by heavy rains in parts of Cebu since Monday, July 8.
“I have received preliminary reports on the impact of heavy rains in Cebu yesterday… Currently, the relevant agencies are actively conducting search and rescue operations,” the President said on Tuesday, July 9.
Marcos assured residents that national and local government agencies were coordinating the delivery of aid to the affected areas, especially the towns of Carmen and Minglanila in Cebu.
“I have also directed the Office of the President and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to provide assistance to local government units affected by the floods,” the President added.
