The Blue Economy Project implemented by the Bureau of Fisheries (BOF) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has launched a questionnaire and record sheet survey on coral reef fishing, with the participation of fishermen from Koror. The survey aims to collect basic data to estimate the total catch and catch of coral reef fishing in the long term for sustainable fisheries. In the context of the blue economy or blue prosperity, such data collection will also contribute to ecosystem protection, economic stability, food security, climate change monitoring, scientific research and informed policy making.
