With just months until Election Day, independent voters are shifting away from Biden and toward Trump

Emerson College Poll Released New PollThe report said Trump leads Biden 46% to 43%, with 11% still undecided.

When undecided voters were asked which candidate they preferred, polls showed a 50-50 split.

While the polls do show a tie, the number of voters unwilling to support Biden could indicate they are less enthusiastic and therefore less willing to show up on Election Day.

The poll showed that 78% of Republicans are “extremely motivated, compared with 65% of Democrats and 63% of independents.”

The poll was conducted after a debate that was widely seen as disastrous for the Biden campaign.

During the debate, Biden was sometimes incoherent, stuttering and speaking incoherently, which aroused widespread dissatisfaction throughout the Democratic Party. Some elected Democrats called for the president to step down and the Democratic Party to nominate a new presidential candidate.

Biden has so far strongly opposed the idea, insisting he will remain on the ticket and can defeat Trump.

But since that debate, Trump, who had built a clear lead in most swing states, has slipped in most polls.

Latest Emerson polling found that Biden’s support among independents has weakened over the past month.

“Former President Trump’s approval rating remains at 46% while President Biden’s approval rating has dropped two points since before the first presidential debate,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of the Emerson College Poll, said in a statement.

“There is a clear anti-Biden trend among independent voters, with 42% supporting Trump and 38% supporting Biden; last month, 43% supported Trump and 41% supported Biden.”

When voters had the opportunity to choose a third-party candidate, Trump’s lead widened slightly, with 44% backing Trump, 40% backing Biden and 6% backing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.while polls show Cornel West and Jill Stein both at around 1%.

The poll also showed Biden’s job approval rating fell two percentage points from last month, with 56% of respondents saying foreign policy is worse than when Biden took office.

“Views on the state of U.S. foreign policy vary across party lines: 48% of Democrats say foreign policy is better now than it was four years ago, 87% of Republicans say it is worse, and 54% of independents say it is worse,” Kimball said.
