Retro hotels, denim jackets and lots of hairspray. That’s what the 90s were all about, and that’s what our Tuesday morning was all about as we visited How can I live without you? Filming this funny comedy. The final product, which will be released in theaters on December 12, is naturally full of Ferenc Demjén’s hits from several generations. The creators especially stressed that this will not be a biographical film, nor will it be about the singer, but will be adapted from his songs. story – look Mamma Mia.

This romantic summer story will take place in two time planes: the present and the 90s. We are immediately plunged into the shooting of past scenes, whether it is the costumes or the scenes, which immediately bring us back to a very retro period.

The film’s director Denes Oros responded to the question of how he imagines the upcoming production to compare to previous Hungarian and foreign musical films:

We really enjoyed recording the musical sequences, which released an amazing amount of energy. We are making a lot of progress, keeping a very brisk pace, but everyone is very enthusiastic and enjoying it. Ferenc Demjén himself is from the 80s and 90s, so you could say he is timeless.

The two protagonists of the story are Mark Ember and Francesca Tolczyk, but the supporting roles are also second-rate, Marcel Kirardi, Bence Brash, Luca Markus, Hamat Kovacs and last but not least Petty Maric will all appear on the cinema screen.

The Varma singer had this to say about trying her hand at acting:

It was a really fun game and certainly challenging, but I love them! Luckily, I was able to try a few things. I got to dance to Dancing with the Stars and we sang along to the formation a few times. This style of performance is something I’m trying to learn and get out of now, but I think it will be good. I really enjoyed filming it! There was one scene that we filmed all day and had to get up really early, but it was even more beautiful in retrospect!

Patti Marikis added that the atmosphere of the 90s was something he came into contact with later, but when he saw the romance of that era, he wanted more and more to go to the parties of that era and see what happened there. When asked if he would dive into this role or if he would play a completely different role, he replied:

Fortunately, the role was suitable, but my mission is that whoever goes to the cinema to see the film should not see that this is all Petty Maric, but pay attention to the difference between the character and the person.

The film’s producer Attila Kiradi revealed that

Before, this question was still in doubt. By the way, the singer liked the basic idea of ​​the film, but he had some rules. For example, every actor who was going to sing had to be approved by János Menyhárt, the author of Demjén’s songs. The actors also passed this sieve, although the numbers were indeed not easy.

They don’t sleep much

Márk Ember revealed that he had never played the lead role in a film, only in a series, and he was very grateful for that. At the beginning of each shooting day, he had a feeling that he had to comply, but he tried to push this feeling to the background, and the crew also helped a lot with this. He believes that theater is very different from filmmaking. Filming is always an adventure, a short run, while in theater they prepare for a production for a long time.

I miss the very nice people who were counseling me. It was a really stressful time. I would sleep on the bus for three or four days when they took me from the theater to the shoot, but life was good when it happened. I’m not complaining, I’m praising!

During the filming process, we were able to feel the great atmosphere in just a few hours. Seeing the scenes, sets, costumes, and actors, we felt like we were flying back in time, and I’m sure the audience would feel the same.
