Defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Bangwe All Stars 5-0 in the round of 32 of the FDH Bank Cup with Patrick Mwangulu scoring twice and Chikumbuso Salima scoring twice.

Babatunde Adepoju also scored as the Bullets dominated the second half.

Coach Calixto Pasuwa praised his team’s determination and quality, saying: “We lost some chances in the first half, but we came out stronger in the second half and managed to score five goals.”

Pasuwa praised the win for giving momentum to the team, which had struggled to score in previous league games.

On the other hand, Bangui All Stars coach Rogers Yassin conceded defeat and blamed his players for failing to seize their chances.

“We lost focus in the second half and it cost us,” lamented Yassin.

In another FDH Bank Cup match, Silver Strikers, who lead the TNM Super League standings, lost to lower league side Blue Eagles 4-3 in a post-match penalty shootout.

Silver Strikers coach Peter Mponda was disappointed and frustrated. He said: “I am disappointed with the result. We did not play to the level of Silver Strikers and we lost badly.”

Mponda’s players failed to capitalise on their chances and their defeat came as a shock to many.

Blue Eagles coach Eliya Kananji praised his players’ fighting spirit, saying: “I told my players to stay focused and not underestimate themselves, and they listened and won this game. My players showed fighting spirit and it paid off.”

Kananji’s tactics and motivation inspired his team to a stunning victory.

In other matches in today’s FDH Bank Cup Round of 32, Karonga edged out Mzuzu by a hard-fought 2-1 while Moyale beat Chintche by a stunning 7-1.

The stage for the round of 16 is ready, and we look forward to more exciting matches!
