The first session of the Circuit Court for the hearing of economic and financial crimes, which began on July 1, will in principle last until August 30, 2024. Some important documents will be scrutinized during this meeting. But we have to admit that they will not receive the same media coverage as the so-called Bakary Togora affair, for example. Among these documents we can cite the documents of the Ministry of Energy and Water, which do not put the accused or senior managers, let alone lesser-known figures, in the box; the director of the Bamako International Conference Center (CICB), Paul Ismaël Boro, then director; from the town hall of the second commune of the Bamako district; EDM-sa. The volume also includes the archives of the National Institute of Social Welfare (INPS); Mali Airports (not to be confused with Sécuriport Airport); Mali Agricultural Products Office (OPAM)…
In fact, the number of defendants in this trial is 181, including 15 women. Of these, 18 were detained, including one woman. The nature of the crimes is as follows: 18 attacks on public property; 3 money laundering and 30 forgery, use of forged goods, fraud and breach of trust.
Note that the case of Bakari Togora et al., which is also the last dossier of the conference, falls under the category of crimes of attack on public property and conspiracy, forgery and use of forged goods, involving a sum of US$ 9 billion and a sum of US$ 13 billion.
