Costa Rican players know how to use the Copa America as an opportunity to make the leap to foreign football.
After finishing third in Group D with four points after games against Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay, international clubs are keeping an eye on the Ticos.
Roberto Garbanzo, the sporting manager of Atletico Herediano, has confirmed that players Orlando Gallo and Andy Rojas could soon be heading abroad.
“We want to make the best decision for the club, both economically and sportingly, together with the board and myself. He (Gallo) has two official offers, I won’t tell you the names, but two official offers, just like Andy (Rojas)”
Like Gallo, 18-year-old Fiorentina pearl Andy Rojas will be able to showcase himself at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in addition to appearing at the America’s Cup.
“That’s why we wanted him to play today, he’s an 18-year-old boy who has to go into the U-20s, be the letter of introduction for our country and be the one to lead the team into the new U-20 World Cup.”
