High Court judge sues comedian
Gaborone High Court Judge Michael Lebru has dismissed an application by his colleague to jail professional comedian and host Michael “Dignash” Molapedi who said he did not default on personal debts.
Justice Mercy Garekwe had leased the unspecified property to Morapedi’s company Daye Wan International in her personal capacity. When the company defaulted on payments, owing a debt of P114,178.58, Garekwe filed suit against the company and Morapedi in her capacity as sole director. That was on December 2, 2020. The liability claims include retention of damages at the rate of P16,562.96 from December 2020, interest at the rate of 2% per month from the date of default to the date of full and final payment, payment of renovation costs if the company fails to carry out such renovations, settlement of all water bills and a 10% collection commission.
