“During the night, air defense systems over the Voronezh region detected and destroyed several drones,” regional governor Alexander Gusev wrote to Telegram.

Falling debris caused a fire at a warehouse in the Podgorensk region and explosives began to detonate, he said, adding that there were no reports of any injuries.

Gusev said rescue teams were working at the scene and residents near the warehouse were being evacuated.

Since the Russian invasion in February 2022, Moscow and Kiev have used drones extensively, including those with a range of hundreds of kilometers.

Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russian territory this year, targeting energy facilities it says supply Russian forces as well as towns and villages on both sides of the border.
