Muscat: The Omani Karate National Team is gearing up to participate in the 2023 World Karate Championships, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary from October 24 to 29. The event will bring together the best karate talents from around the world, and the Omani team will also leave its mark here.
The Oman Karate Committee organized a special delegation for the competition, led by Salem bin Hamad al Mahrouqi, Chairman of the Oman Karate Committee. The team included outstanding players in the sport, Said bin Ali al Shabibi, who competed in the under-67 kg category, and Idris bin Ali al Batrani, who competed in the under-60 kg category. They received intensive training and guidance from the team’s coach, Ali bin Said al Shabibi, and were judged by internationally renowned referee Hilal bin Mohammed al Abdali.
This is not the first time that the Omani National Karate Team has come under the spotlight, having recently shown their prowess at the West Asian Championships in Sharjah 2022. At that event, the team showcased their outstanding skills and won one gold medal and five bronze medals.
The 2023 World Karate Championships in Budapest promises to be a platform to showcase Oman’s outstanding karate talent on the world stage. The Oman Karate Committee is confident in its teams’ ability to shine at international competitions.
