The 41st Agricultural Expo opened on Friday with the goal of bringing agriculture closer to the people.
This year’s agricultural expo will focus on regional products and their marketing in the hope of increasing their appeal to consumers.
The Agricultural Fair also offers activities for children, horse shows, stables for raising cattle, cooking classes and a meat recipe booklet.
The expo hopes to highlight the connection between agriculture and society to increase interest in the industry. To do this, farmers need to bring their knowledge closer to the people.
Politicians also attended the meeting on Friday to better address the industry and its weaknesses. Farmer and councillor Jeff Boonen said the role of politicians was clear.
Minister Martin Hansen explained that in order to really market local produce effectively, a whole branch needs to be established and people need to understand that local products are also quality products.
The Agricultural Fair is open until Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
