The announcement of nine (9) seats for PF party MPs is a reckless and irresponsible act by all those involved in this seemingly misguided UPND project to dissolve the former ruling party.
At this time, our country needs an efficient strategy to revitalize our education and health systems to produce generations of well-trained, healthy, competitive talents and upper-middle class citizens. This should be our spending priority, not meaningless by-elections.
It is disheartening that the UP has been wasting meagre public resources so much in the nearly three years it has been in power. Unnecessary expenditures, such as the by-elections currently being announced, are testament to the UP’s indifference to the people in its governance.
The insensitivity of the Hakain-led government and its overestimation and sheer ignorance of the country’s carrying capacity have long been a cause of concern. It is clear that this poses a threat to national security and the well-being of our future generations.
As UKA, we wish to urge our voting citizens to appropriately voice their dissatisfaction with the irresponsible behaviour of this wasteful and indifferent government, whose legitimacy is not gained by respecting and honouring the terms of the social contract, which are being rescinded every day.
As Zambians from all walks of life, we need to come together to reclaim the mandate that was truly given by the citizens of Zambia on August 12, 2021, to change Zambia for the better.
