Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said Sweden and Turkey have a “perfect” relationship and planned to meet with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the NATO summit.

Billström answered questions in the capital, Stockholm; “We have good relations with Turkey because, due to our membership of NATO, we are military allies at the same time,” he said.

Billstrom stressed that Lithuania is close to joining the security agreement reached between Turkey and NATO at trilateral talks in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius; “I feel like things are going according to plan,” he said.

Bilstrom stressed that he was looking forward to the NATO summit in Washington on July 9-11; “I look forward to seeing his brother Hakan Fidan as soon as possible at the summit in Washington next week,” he said.

The Swedish minister elaborated on the country’s position on the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza; “Sweden has always been on the side of establishing a humanitarian agreement, releasing all prisoners, and returning to negotiations, which will allow Israel and Palestine to live as independent states, with the rest of the world guaranteeing the security of these two peoples,” he said.
