Oman’s Para athletics team achieved impressive results at the 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China from October 22 to 28.

More than 5,000 athletes from 44 countries participated in this event, competing in 566 events in 22 sports at 19 venues.

Oman’s talent and determination were evident as the team won four medals, including two gold medals, both won by star athlete Mohammed Mashaiki, who won Oman its only medal at the Paralympic Games.

Al Mashayki won the shot put and javelin events held in Hangzhou. In addition, Al Mashayki’s outstanding performance also qualified him for the shot put event of the 2024 Paris Olympics in France.

Mohammad Qasmi contributed to the team’s success by winning two silver medals in shot put and javelin throwing, which added to the team’s accolades.

These achievements not only highlight the strength of Omani Paralympic athletes, but also mark their continued success at the Asian level. The Oman Paralympic Committee’s tireless efforts in creating favourable training conditions and the unwavering support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth have played a key role in achieving this remarkable achievement.
