(Ouagadougou, July 4, 2024). Captain Martha Celeste Anderson Dekomwin Meda, Chief of Staff of the President of Faso, presided over on Tuesday, July 2, at the Nabakum II Camp, the ceremony of presenting the completion of training certificates to 32 Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland (VDP) of the President of Faso.
After a month of training, the first batch of Faso presidential officials who participated in the military immersion training received the completion certificate of the volunteer training for defending the motherland. For the trainee representatives, this immersion experience hoped by the highest authorities is mainly to “train us how to use weapons, but most importantly, let us cultivate our own military discipline.”
He said the training will enable the trainees to conduct public affairs diligently and successfully manage human resources in their respective functions through acquired military discipline. He thanked all the instructors and military brass who worked hard to ensure the success of the training.
For Captain Inoussa TARNAGDA, the course director, the one-month training involved practical weapons, including introduction to the operation of the Kalashnikov and automatic pistol (AP), combat shooting instruction, shooting, combat first aid, soldier school, close quarters command and radio procedures. Thanks to this training, the first officers of the Faso presidency are now able to ensure self-protection and defense of the homeland in the context of eliminating insecurity.
In his closing remarks, the Director of the Faso Presidential Office congratulated the participants on their successful completion of these training moments and invited all managers of the Faso Presidency to make discipline a fundamental value in the performance of their daily tasks.
“All the modules you receive go through a discipline basis. Discipline is about respecting instructions, following rules; one command, one action”, the MEDAH captain told the trainees.
He urged the new VDP of Faso not to rest on their laurels, “because you are now the VDP and can be called upon to serve any part of the national territory that we protect and that we want to value”.
During the ceremony, the guests also watched the weapons disassembly and assembly demonstrations performed by the trainees. The executives trained included the special adviser to the President of Faso, project managers, as well as directors and project managers.
