Acolyte Episode 6, “Teaching/Corruption,” tells the story of twins Mae and Osha (both Amandla Stenberg) swapped places with their former masters, The Parent Trap-style. This is the episode that cracked me up. Acolyte Episode 6, “Teaching/Corruption,” proves that Leslye Headland must be stopped! Manny Jacinto is so hot as the Sith Lord! He’s like something out of Star Wars, with his incredible biceps, chiseled cheekbones, and naked body, leading us to the dark side. The show actually cast this “bad guy” as the tortured hero of a gothic romance novel, helping our lost heroine, and even got a sneak peek at him in the bathtub! Leslye Headland’s version of the dark side in Star Wars is too fascinating to resist—it drives me crazy!
Needless to say, Zmyr isn’t the first Star Wars bad boy to make fans’ hearts flutter. The sequel trilogy’s fanbase was filled with female fans of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) himself was portrayed as an absolute beauty until he got fried on Mustafar. However, there’s definitely something particularly hot about Manny Jacinto’s Zmyr. He really seems designed to represent the most alluring element of the dark side of the Force.
Philosophically, Zimierz is able to accurately poke holes in the Jedi’s unbreakable moral code. Martially, he’s a beast in combat, using a combination of instinct and athleticism to defeat rule-abiding Jedi. In addition, Manny Jacinto is a very, very good-looking man. Anyone who has ever laid eyes on him will agree that he’s handsome. From beginning to end Acolyte Episode 6, “Teachings/Corruption,” saw Zmier act less like a scheming supervillain and more like a misunderstood antihero. Not only did he heal Osha, he reaffirmed that he wasn’t a threat. That sexy skinny dip was also a moment of pure vulnerability for the Sith Lord. Osha had the upper hand; he was just a man. A handsome man. A good man. A compassionate man. A man with scars on his back from a former Jedi Master. Star Wars is coming. Akota territory, and let me revel in the embrace of the dark side of the Force.
Apparently, this was Leslie Headland’s plan from the beginning. She’s made no secret that she wanted to make a Star Wars show where fans rooted for the bad guys. I simply couldn’t imagine she would do that by making the Sith Lords into dudes. This is the Star Wars show that my teenage self craved, one that embraced femininity, messiness, and seduction. This is a Star Wars show for girls, queers, and horny little freaks.
God bless Leslye Headland Acolytebut damn, because she’s too much. Manny Jacinto is irresistibly sexy as the Sith Lord. The Jedi are a bunch of dumb herbs, and Zmyre is the darkly handsome stranger ready to crush them to pieces.
