The UN Security Council is expected to hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday over an Israeli airstrike on Rafah that killed at least 25 people.

German news agency dpa reported on Monday, citing diplomats, that Algeria had made the request for the meeting and had been supported by Slovenia.

The Health Ministry in Gaza, which is controlled by the extremist Hamas group, said Israel carried out air strikes on a Palestinian refugee camp on Sunday night, killing dozens of people, including children, and injuring hundreds.

The United States and the European Union recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization.

As the world reacted to the incident, the Taliban government also condemned the attacks.

The Taliban Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement yesterday the need to prevent such attacks from happening again.

The United Nations, the European Union and the Arab world condemned the attacks and called on Israel to stop its operations in Rafah.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation called the attacks “war crimes” on Channel X or Twitter and wrote that the United Nations should fulfill its responsibilities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a tragic incident and promised an investigation.
