Addis Ababa, July 2, 2024 (Address) Ethiopia and Somalia expressed their commitment to resolving their differences peacefully during discussions in Ankara hosted by Turkey.
At the invitation of Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Tayye Ateske Selassie, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Ahmed Muallem Fiki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, held a meeting in Ankara on July 1, 2024.
After yesterday’s meeting, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release stating that the two foreign ministers discussed their differences candidly and positively.
The statement said the two foreign ministers “were able to have frank, friendly and forward-looking exchanges on their respective differences and explore ideas for resolving these differences within a framework acceptable to both sides.”
The foreign ministers of Ethiopia and Somalia both reiterated their commitment to a peaceful resolution of their differences and expressed gratitude for Turkey’s mediation and constructive contribution.
“The ministers agreed to continue dialogue to resolve their issues and ensure regional stability,” the release added.
