A gas explosion at a restaurant in western Turkey on Sunday killed four people and injured several others, local authorities said.
“Four of our compatriots have lost their lives and many have been injured, some seriously.”” said Süleyman Elban, the Governor of İzmir Province.
The mayor of Tolbali, where the explosion took place, reported the same death toll on private television channel NTV and estimated the number of injured at 20, 10 of them seriously.
According to authorities, the explosion may have been caused by a gas cylinder.
Images broadcast by Turkish television channels showed several buildings with their facades partially blown away by the blasts.
