CChief Justice Leslie Haines today adjourned proceedings into charges of suspension of Democratic Labour Party (DLP) president Dr Ronnie Yearwood and secretary Steve Blackett.
He ordered the legal team representing Ricky Williams, a senior SDLP member who filed the case in May, as well as representatives for acting party chairman Pedro Shepherd and acting general secretary Andre Worrell to return to court on July 23.
Williams’ attorney, Shamar Bovell, said the judge also left the door open for both parties to resolve the matter through discussions.
He said that while his client’s demands were well-founded, they were willing to engage in serious negotiations to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, Crown counsel Hal Gollop, who represented Sheppard, said the judge ordered his client and Worrell to remain in interim roles.
